Enrollment procedures
The following process will help you better understand Calvary’s education ministry. For more information about Calvary Lutheran School, please contact us to arrange an appointment or schedule a tour with our Admissions Counselor.
1. The family completes and submits an application along with a $50.00 non-refundable application fee for each student seeking enrollment.
2. For students entering kindergarten-8th grade, each child’s previous school/preschool teacher must complete and submit a Student Assessment Form (K-3, 4-8) to determine the child’s behavior patterns and study skills before enrollment can be completed. Please ask teachers to send them directly to Calvary’s Ward Parkway Plaza Campus.
3. Students seeking to enter grades 2-8 are required to complete an entrance test, which includes math and reading subtests. Students must score at 50th percentile or greater in each subject area. We also request that parents bring to the school office copies of standardized test scores (Stanford Achievement Test, Iowa Basic, etc.). Step #1 above must be completed prior to testing. PLEASE NOTE: Students entering second grade are to test in April or May of the first grade year.
4. Families are to submit standardized achievement test scores, report card information, and a copy of the child’s birth certificate along with the application and application fee. These documents may be provided at the time of the interview with the school principal or assistant principal.
5. Family awaits the decision of the Admissions Staff, which makes a determination of enrollment. The following are used in this assessment:
- Application with fee
- Birth certificate
- Previous report card(s)
- Student Assessment Form: K-3, 4-8
- Standardized tests
- Calvary’s tests
- Interview
6. The family will complete the necessary forms upon acceptance. See below for registration forms.
7. If we reach maximum capacity, you will be notified and your family will be put on a waiting list, which is reviewed periodically. Enrollment will take place in order of priority.
We look forward to meeting with you. Please call to schedule a tour of the facilities, schedule testing, or to seek answers to any questions.
